Excited to announce that I’ve successfully defended my PhD thesis “Temporal Dynamics in Emergent Communication” with no corrections at the University of Southampton! My research focused on how autonomous agents use spatio-temporal relationships in their communication, investigating both how interaction time affects performance and how agents develop ways to refer to time and space, similar to how humans use words like “before” or “next to.”

I’m incredibly grateful to my supervisors Tim Norman, Adam Sobey, and Federico Cerutti for their invaluable guidance and support throughout this journey. Special thanks to my examiners, Andreea-Daniela Mihai and Peter McBurney, for making the viva a fun experience, and for the great questions and discussion, and to the independent chair, Daniel Clark, for ensuring a smooth examination process. ️ Thanks also to everyone at the MINDS - Centre for Doctoral Training in AI for all the support!
